Summary
Set in 1940's Curacao, a parish requests a painter for a mural of the Virgin Mary. However, the closed island community is surprised when the artist arriving from Holland turns out to be an emmigrant from Africa. Even more tension is created when the artist, Gabriel, becomes involved with both the wife of the Governor and the fiancé of the island's chief-of-police.
