Summary
A biography of Karl Marx, looking at Marx's education and how his ideas on politics, economics and society developed over time. The first part of the film focuses on the philosophical works of Marx and Engels, considering their originality and the initial distrust of Marx's ideas by elites. The second considers Marx as an active revolutionary, with particular attention to the Congresses of the Communist League and his work on a communist newspaper. Attempts at uprisings in France and Germany are covered in this section, especially the Paris Commune.
