Summary
Medical services in the Viet Bac jungle region of the Western Highlands; the functioning of an army hospital is shown in some detail. Doctors and nurses quit comfortable and modern hospitals in cities to help build a hospital in the jungle. They manage to make things work, creating medical tools to save soldiers thanks to their advanced knowledge and bravery. Scenes show the construction of the hospital by a jungle stream, medical staff working with patients and laboratory equipment. Patients work on exercise bikes and in a rudimentary gym. Also includes footage of hunting in the jungle and the killing and dismemberment of an elephant, scenes of cooking, learning, and patients watching films that feature the capture of American soldiers.
