Summary
Collection including correspondence, manuscript material, photographs, and printed ephemera from the early to mid-1960s documenting the lead up to the countercultural Provo movement in Amsterdam and the publication of Provo. Includes posters, programs, and three black-and-white photographs relating to "Open het graf," a 9 December 1962 happening organized by Melvin Clay, Frank Stern, and Simon Vinkenoog, and with the participation of Jan Cremer, Johnny ("the selfkicker") van Doorn, and Robert Jaspar Grootveld, among others. The photographs, one attributed to Ronald Sweering, include Vinkenoog, van Doorn, and Jean-Jacques Lebel. Other materials include the following: material relating to other happenings; material relating to a game called "Marihu," including rules, autograph manuscript, possibly in the hand of Cremer or Grootveld; material relating to protests; material relating to Provo; and issues for De hipperzweter and De wereldrevolutie.
