Summary
Based on "The Deerslayer" by James Fenimore Cooper. In 1740, English troops attempted to seize the French colonial settlements in North America. Local Indian tribes fought as mercenaries: the Huron on the French side, the Delawareans on the English side. The Huron raided the Delawarean camp and captured Wahtawah, the daughter of the chief, who was to marry Chingachgook. He and his friend Deerslayer set out to free Wahtawah from her captors. Only after the English have attacked and destroyed the Huron camp does the wounded Huron chief realize that the Indians ought not to be involved in the war between the whites.
