Charles McDonald worked in stone quarries in the Rocky Mountains circa 1890. Between 1890 and 1893, he was in Fountain and Florrisant, Colorado, as well as Nephi City, Utah.

McDonald writes briefly of his time in the Rocky Mountains, hauling stone from quarries, and possible plans to move on to the San Juan Mine in New Mexico to mine gold.
