Herbert Oliver Brayer (1913- ), American historian, was a member of the faculty at the University of New Mexico circa 1937-1946. He published multiple works on the economic history of the American West.

Manuscript notebook, with typescript additions, of Herbert Oliver Brayer containing research on nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American cattle industries and their development, circa 1949. Sections document ranchers in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona, and Texas. Included are bibliographical references.
