Wa-ṣallá Allāh ʻalá Rasūlihi Muḥammad Khātim al-Nabīyīn, wa-ʻalá jamīʻ al-anbiyāʼ wa-al-mursalīn, wa-ʻibādihi al-ṣāliḥīn, min ahl al-samāwāt wa-al-araḍīn. Qāla al-Faqīh Abū al-Layth Naṣr ibn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm, raḍiya Allāh ʻanhu: Innī qad jamaʻtu fī kitābī hādhā funūnan min al-ʻilm mā lā yasaʻu jahluhu wa-al-takhalluf ʻanhu lil-khāṣṣ wa-al-ʻāmm, wa-istakhrajtu dhālika min kutub kathīrah, wa-sammaytuhu 'Kitāb al-Bustān', fa-awradtu fīhi mā huwa al-awḍaḥ lil-nāẓir fīhi wa-al-rāghib ilayhi, wa-bayyantu al-ḥujaj fīmā yuḥtāju fīhi ilá al-ḥujjah bi-al-Kitāb wa-al-akhbār wa-al-naẓar wa-al-āthār, wa-taraktu al-ghawāmiḍ min al-kalām, wa-ḥadhaftu asānīd al-Aḥādīth takhfīfan lil-rāghibīn fīhi wa-iltimāsan li-manfaʻat al-nās, wa-arjū Allāh taʻālá bi-hi al-thawāb, wa-asʼaluhu al-tawfīq lil-ṣawāb ..."

البداية: "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، وبه ثقتي، وهو حسبي. الحمد لله رب العالمين، والعاقبة للمتقين. ولا حول ولا قوة إلّا بالله العلي العظيم. وصلى الله على رسوله محمد خاتم النبيين، وعلى جميع الأنبياء والمرسلين، وعباده الصالحين، من أهل السماوات والأرضين. قال الفقيه أبو الليث نصر بن محمد بن إبراهيم، رضي الله عنه: إني قد جمعت في كتابي هذا فنونًا من العلم ما لا يسع جهله والتخلف عنه للخاص والعام، واستخرجت ذلك من كتب كثيرة، وسميته 'كتاب البستان'، فأوردت فيه ما هو الأوضح للناظر فيه والراغب إليه، وبينت الحجج فيما يحتاج فيه إلى الحجة بالكتاب والأخبار والنظر والآثار، وتركت الغوامض من الكلام، وحذفت أسانيد الاحاديث تخفيفًا للراغبين فيه والتماسًا لمنفعة الناس، وأرجو الله تعالى به الثواب، وأسأله التوفيق للصواب ..."

"Dakhala hādhā al-kitāb fī mulk al-faqīr al-ḥaqīr, al-muʻtarif bi-al-dhanb wa-al-taqṣīr, al-Ḥājj Yūsuf ibn Asʻad al-Bishtāwī, ghafara Allāh la-hu wa-li-wālidayhi wa-al-Muslimīn ajmaʻīn. Āmīn." Khatm al-Ḥājj Yūsuf ibn Asʻad al-Bishtāwī. 2. "Intaqala wa-dakhala fī mulk al-faqīr li-Rabbihi Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥājj Maḥmūd al-Badawī bi-Nāblus, fī ghurrat Rabīʻ Anwar, sanat 1315 [31 July, 1897]." 3. "Wa-intaqala wa-dakhala fī mulk al-ʻabd al-faqīr al-rājī ʻafwa Rabbihi al-karīm, ʻazza shaʼnuhu, Muḥammad Shawqī ibn al-marḥūm Muṣṭafá ibn al-Sayyid Asʻad al-Shinnāwī, ghafara Allāh la-hu wa-li-wālidayhi wa-al-Muslimīn."

الخاتمة: "نجز الكتاب بحمد الله تعالى وعونه، على يد الفقير الحقير المعترف بالذنب والتقصير إلى المولى الجليل، الحاج يوسف بن أسعد بن يوسف بن الحاج صالح البشتاوي، غفر الله له ولوالديه ولوالد والديه، ولجميع المسلمين والمسلمات، والمؤمنين والمؤمنات، الأحياء منهم والأموات. وصلى الله على سيدنا ومولانا محمد سيدي [سيد] السادات، وعلى آله وأصحابه، وتابع التابعين، رضوان الله وسلامه عليهم أجمعين إلى يوم الدين. والحمد لله رب العالمين. آمين." ختم الحاج يوسف أسعد البشتاوي.

Translation of the colophon: "The book is completed by the praise of God Almighty and His help, by the hand of the poor and despised, who confesses his iniquity and insufficiency to the Exalted Lord, al-Ḥājj Yūsuf ibn Asʻad ibn Yūsuf ibn al-Ḥājj Ṣāliḥ al-Bishtāwī, may God forgive him, his parents and the parents of his parents, and all Muslim men and women, and the believers, men and women, the living among them and the dead. May God pray on our Master Muḥammad the Lord of Lords, and on his family and companions, and the followers of his followers, may God be pleased with all of them and grant them peace, until Judgement Day.
