Biographical / Historical Note
William Henry Hooper (1813-1882) of Cambridge, Maryland, moved to Utah Territory in 1850. Hooper was a United States Congressional delegate from the territory from 1859 to 1861 and 1865 to 1873. Preceding this role, he was secretary of Utah Territory.
Summary
3 printed promissory notes for land titles, completed in manuscript and signed, made out to William Henry Hooper while secretary of Utah Territory, 1857 April 8-May 6. Signed by John Pea of Tooele County, Nelson S. Hollingshead of Parowan County, and James Leach of Salt Lake County. Accompanied by manuscript promissory note of H. S. Eldridge of Saint Louis, Missouri, 1857 April 15; and printed form requesting payment from Hooper to Robertson, Hudson & Pulliam, 1858 May 24.
