Summary
This study was conducted by Daniel Yankelovich, Inc., for Time Magazine. A random sample of adults living in the 17 largest states in terms of electoral vote were interviewed by telephone shortly before the November 1972 election. Respondents were asked to state their partisan preferences, to identify major problems confronting the United States, and to compare the presidential candidates on such issues as welfare, government corruption, United States' policies toward China and Russia, jobs, defense, and taxes. Specific questions were asked about the public images of President Richard Nixon and Democratic party presidential candidate George McGovern. Demographic information includes age, sex, race, education, occupation, income, religion, and marital status.Cf: http://doi.org/10.3886/ICPSR07347.v1
