Summary
This survey was conducted following the request by the Justice Department that a special independent counsel be appointed to investigate the Iran-contra affair. Respondents were asked to rate Reagan's presidency, and to indicate whether they approved of having an independent counsel appointed and believed that its investigation would bring out all the facts. Respondents also were asked if they believed that Reagan only learned about the money for the contras the week before, whether he should resign if the investigation showed that he was lying about when he learned of the plan, if they felt that Reagan was in control of his presidency, and whether they thought George Bush was involved in the Iran affair. Demographic data on respondents are included.Cf: http://doi.org/10.3886/ICPSR08853.v1
