Summary
This study is part of a time-series collection of national surveys fielded continuously since 1952, designed to present data on Americans' social backgrounds, enduring political predispositions, social and political values, perceptions and evaluations of groups and candidates, opinions on questions of public policy, and participation in political life. The 2004 phase of the panel study was, in large part, made up of questions that captured the likely consequences of the election contest of 2000 and the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001, as understood and interpreted by ordinary Americans. This included instrumentation on participation in political and civic life, satisfaction with democratic institutions, support for administration policy, and views on Afghanistan, Iraq, and homeland security.Cf: http://doi.org/10.3886/ICPSR35150.v1
