Summary
Two scrapbooks assembled by Harriet R. Thompson containing printed and other materials relating to the performing arts in the United States during the first decade of the twentieth century. Materials, consisting chiefly of clippings and programs, document cultural events in New York City, Boston, Providence, and San Francisco circa 1899 through 1911. Programs document theatre, dance, choral, and musical performances at venues including Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Opera House, Belasco Theatre, Harlem Opera House, Empire Theatre, New Amsterdam Theatre, Tremont Theatre, and Providence Opera House. In addition to events, clippings document individual artists and performers, as well as the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. Other materials include calling cards, invitations, postcards, autograph manuscript notes and correspondence addressed to Miss Thompson, and photographs.
