George C. Joslyn (1912-1964) was born in Bemidji, Minnesota. In 1940, he worked as a linesman and serviceman for the Prince William Sound Water-Power, Light, and Telephone Company at Valdez, Alaska. On March 27, 1964, Josyln worked as a longshoreman and died when a tsunami caused by the Alaska Good Friday earthquake swept him from a dock at Valdez.

Photograph album that chiefly documents the activities of George C. Joslyn during his employment at the power plant at Valdez, Alaska, 1938-1940. Images include exteriors of the power plant for the Prince William Sound Water-Power, Light, and Telephone Company on the edge of Valdez Bay as well as interiors of machinery in it. Other images include views of salmon fishing, the tugboat "Siren of Seattle," and landscape views as well as a panorama of the community of Gulkana. Informal portraits include images of Joslyn as well as manager of the power plant, Alexander Robert Douglas Hamerquist and Rex Leo Hancock.
