First published in an English edition: Letters and sketches, with a narrative of a year's residence among the Indian tribes of the Rocky Mountains, Philadelphia, 1843. The letters were arranged for publication in French (Malines, 1844) by A. van Iseghem, who says that the English edition "contient en substance les mêmes récits, mais avec beaucoup moins détails". cf. Avis, and Backer, Bibl. de la Comp. de Jésus. The present edition omits the Narrative of a year's residence, and several religious writings.
