Leonard H. Poole was a special investigator for the United States Indian Service investigating Indian depredation cases, which compensated United States citizens for crimes committed by Native Americans.

Poole and 1 printed item concerning the Indian depredation case of St. Leger Beck. 4 letters, 1888, document Poole's attempts to contact Beck and request additional evidence about his case, which concerned property allegedly destroyed in Weld County, Colorado in 1865. Includes letters to Beck, Beck's wife, and Beck's attorney, as well as a copy of printed Department of Interior rules and regulations concerning the presentation and examination of Indian depredation cases.
