In beautiful and large naskh script, in black ink, on white paper; the phrases of the original poem in purple; some commentaries and corrections on the margins; catchwords.
On folio 1a: "Hādhā Sharḥ al-ʻAllāmah al-Sujāʻī ʻalá 'Manẓūmatihi' fī al-majāz, nafaʻanā Allāh bi-hi wa-biʻulūmihi. Āmīn."
على وجه الورقة 1: "هذا شرح العلامة السجاعي على 'منظومته' في المجاز، نفعنا الله به وبعلومه. آمين."
The original poem of al-Sujāʻī starts with: Ḥamdan li-Rabbī khāliqi al-ḥaqīqati // kadhā al-majāzi Munzili al-Sharīʻati. Tumma ṣalātan lil-Rasūli al-hādī // wa-ālihi wa-ṣaḥbihi al-amjādi. It ends with: Wa-al-ḥamdu lillāh ʻalá mā qad hadā // maʻa al-salāmi lil-Nabīyi Aḥmadā. Wa-ālihi wa-ṣaḥbihi al-aʼimmah // wa-man qafāhum min jamīʻ al-ummah.
تبدأ منظومة السجاعي بـِ: حمدًا لربي خالق الحقيقة // كذا المجاز منزل الشريعة. تم صلاةً للرسول الهادي // وآله وصحبه الأمجاد. وتنتهي بـ‍‍ِ: والحمد لله على ما قد هدا // مع السلام للنيّ أحمدا. وآله وصحبه الأئمة // ومن قفاهم من جميع الأمة.

Colophon: "Intahá. Askananā Allāh bi-mannihi al-Ghurfah al-ʻAlīyah, wa-jamaʻa lanā bayna khayray al-Dārayn, bi-jāh Sayyidinā wa-Mawlānā Muḥammad khayr al-barīyah, ṣallá Allāh ʻalayhi wa-ālihi wa-ṣaḥbihi al-kirām, wa-ʻalá sāʼir atbāʻihim, wa-ʻalaynā maʻahum ajmaʻīn bilā inqḍāʼ. Āmīn. Tamm."
الخاتمة: "انتهى. أسكننا الله بمنه الغرفة العلية، وجمع لنا بين خيري الدارين، بجاه سيدنا ومولانا محمد خير البرية، صلى الله عليه وآل وصحبه الكرام، وعلى سائر اتباعهم، وعلينا معهم اجمعين بلا انقضاء. آمين. تم."
Translation of the colophon: "It is completed. May God, by his benevolence, make us dwell in the Lofty Room, and grant us to have the blessings of the two Abodes, by the high status of our Master and Lord Muḥammad, the best of mankind, may God pray on him, his family, his noble companions, on all their followers, and on all of us with them, without cessation. Amen. It is completed."

Summary
"al-Iḥrāz fī anwāʻ al-majāz" (Attaining the different kinds of figurative expressions), a treatise on metaphors and rhetoric in Arabic, by Aḥmad ibn Aḥmad al-Sujāʻī (died 1783?), a prolific Shāfiʻī Islamic law scholar, from "al-Sujāʻīyah" (Egypt), hence, his name "al-Sujāʻī", who wrote on different subjects, some in verse, mostly commentaries and glosses on the works of other authors. The present manuscript is a commentary by the author on his own treatise in verse. Name of copyist and place and date of copying not mentioned, probably from the 19th century.
