Biographical / Historical Note
John S. Congdon (1877-1956) left Sedgwick, Kansas, for Colorado in the 1890s. Congdon first found work as a miner in the Cripple Creek District for the Victor Fuel Company; by 1910, he was a high school instructor in Cripple Creek.
