Biographical / Historical Note
Dotts Johnson (1913-1986) was an African American actor, composer, and singer. Born in Baltimore, Maryland as Hylan Johnson, he is best known for his roles in Paisan and The Joe Louis Story.
Summary
13 photographs of Dotts Johnson taken by unidentified photographers, circa 1946-1957. Images depicting Johnson include two studio portraits; a film still from the motion picture No Way Out; four film stills from the short film Tall, Tan, and Terrific; a portrait with Maria Michi; and two photographs with unidentified persons. Also includes a portrait of film director Roberto Rossellini; and two photographs of the World Theater in New York, New York, where the motion picture Paisan, also known as Paisà, is playing.
