Summary
Editor, publisher and professor Yanick Rice-Lamb was born on September 27, 1957 in Akron, Ohio. She received her B.A. degree in journalism from Ohio State University in 1980. From 1980 until 1995, Lamb worked in various editorial capacities at the Toledo Blade, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the New York Times, Child Magazine, and Essence. She went on to serve as editor-in-chief, editorial director, and vice president at Black Entertainment Television, where she managed Heart & Soul and was founding editor of BET Weekend. Lamb was hired as a journalism faculty member at Howard University in 2001, where she also received her M.B.A. degree in management in 2005. Lamb co-founded Fully-Connected.com and FierceforBlackWomen.com, and has co-authored three books: The Spirit of African Design, Born to Win: The Authorized Biography of Althea Gibson, and Rise and Fly: Tall Tales and Mostly True Rules of Bid Whist.
