Corporate executive Lorenzo David Creighton was born on January 5, 1953 in Waterloo, Iowa. Creighton received his B.A. degree in political science from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1975; and his J.D. degree from Drake Law School in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1988. Creighton began his career in the gaming industry as deputy director for Iowa Racing Gaming Commission in 1989. After the Iowa legislature passed the Riverboat Gambling Bill, Creighton was responsible for drafting the regulations and Iowa's first casino was opened in 1991. Creighton held several positions within the gaming industry, including MGM Mirages' president and chief operating officer of New York New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 2005.
