Summary
Corporate executive Willie J. Taylor was born on September 2, 1932 in Centerville, Mississippi. The youngest of three children, his parents were Tena and Lois Taylor. In 1946, Taylor graduated from Chicago public schools -- Forestville Elementary School and Dunbar Vocational High School. At the age of twenty, Taylor worked for the United States Postal Office before joining the United States Army Signal Corps. During post World War II, with the growth of technology, research and development, Taylor took a job as a research assistant at the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute. In 1966, Taylor joined Sonicraft Inc. as its Vice President of Operations, overseeing production, equipment installation and remote radio communications. In 1982, Sonicraft Inc. signed a multimillion dollar manufacturing contract with the U.S. Air force, making it the largest single series contract the government has ever awarded a minority owned business.
