Summary
The US has long revered their generation of citizens who endured, survived and prospered in the tumultuous 20th century, but the same has not been true in the UK.This inspirational series redresses the balance and shines a light on the generation of British people who endured two world wars, the depression, the seismic cultural changes of the 1950s and 60s, and has grown old in Modern Britain. We hear from these remarkable people in their own words - some are well known and others are ordinary people whose often incredible stories have not, until now, been heard. Interviews and personal testimony are intercut with archive footage, unique material from personal collections and contributions from children and grandchildren.
