Summary
It was Europe's biggest military onslaught since the Second World War. One year on, the BBC has returned to the war zone and its command centres to reveal the extraordinary truth about the twentieth century's last major war. The BBC has the most extensive interviews yet gained with the key political players as well as key military figures including US NATO commander Wesley Clark and British NATO force commander, Mike Jackson. On a more personal level we will hear from NATO pilots, special forces on the ground and personal testimonies from Serb soldiers who weathered the daily bombardments. Finally we will outline the inside story of what finally broke Milosevic, how close Europe was to a major ground war and how and why one Russian general humiliated the West's military planners. Blending unique footage, and extraordinary first-hand testimony, The Secret War will recreate the key scenes, tensions and emotions of the Kosovan conflict from all sides.
