Biographical / Historical Note
Gambia Adventurers was an English trading company founded in 1668, primarily selling enslaved Africans, ivory, wax, and gum. The company had a seven year lease with the Royal African Company for control of the trade route in northern Africa.
Summary
Manuscript minute book, in an unidentified hand, of the General Court of the Gambia Adventurers and the Committee for the Inspection of the Books, from January 22, 1683 through December 23, 1686 and January 31, 1695 through June 25, 1700. Entries include lists of members present at meetings and collection, customs charges, and payments for unidentified freight.
