Joseph Priestley (1733-1804) was an English chemist, natural philosopher, and separatist theologian. He helped found Unitarianism in England.
Joseph Bretland (1742-1819) was an English dissenting minister.
Lant Carpenter (1780-1840) was an English educator and Unitarian minister.
Raja Rammohun Roy (1772?-1833) was an Indian social reformer. He co-founded the Calcutta Unitarian Society.
Laura Dewey Bridgman (1829-1889) was an American deafblind woman.
Mary Carpenter (1807-1877) was an English social reformer. Her father was Lant Carpenter (1780-1840).

Collection of correspondence written and received by Unitarians and social reformers in England. Contains 21 autograph letters, signed, from Joseph Priestley to Joseph Bretland; 20 letters addressed to Bretland from Unitarian ministers; 19 letters addressed to Lant Carpenter, including one from James Monroe; 11 letters addressed to Abraham Kennaway and William Benjamin Kennaway; four letters from Raja Rammohun Roy; and one letter from Laura Dewey Bridgman to Mary Carpenter.
