Summary
World-famous cellist and genre-crisscrossing cultural icon Yo-Yo Ma works with alumni cellists of the New World Symphony (NWS) in a series of five master classes. Michael Tilson Thomas, renowned orchestral conductor and co-founder of the NWS, contributes and facilitates the discussions. NWS alumna Naomi Gray performs the first movement from Antonin Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B Minor. Afterwards, Yo-Yo Ma emphasizes the impact of psychology on a musician's approaches to preparation and technique and encourages Gray to make use of the energy of the room and the audience.
