Louis-Alexandre de La Rochefoucauld d'Enville (1743-1792) was a French statesman and politician.
Adam Smith (1723-1790) was a Scottish economist, philosopher, and author.
Summary
Autograph manuscript of Louis-Alexandre de La Rochefoucauld d'Enville's translation into French of the first part of Adam Smith's Theory of Moral Sentiments. The manuscript has corrections and annotations throughout. The translation includes on pages 131-132 an extensive note added by Smith to the second edition of his work, published in 1761.
