Biographical / Historical Note
Robert Allen Hume (1847-1929) (Yale 1871) was born in Bombay, India, to missionary parents serving with the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM). After his studies at Yale University and Andover Theological School, Hume was sent in 1874 by the ABCFM to the Marathi Mission in Ahmednagar, India. He remained until 1926.
