Pasted to edge of front pastedown: parchment bifolium containing a passage from De accentibus liber, appoximately 1300-1325. Front pastedown is a modern color reproduction of an illuminated manuscript leaf.
Pasted to rear board: small parchment leaf containing notes on burials, in Italian, in fifteenth-century cursive.
Layout: single columns with entries of varying length, generally 14-24 lines per page.
Script: Gothica Antiqua with headings and titles in Gothica Rotunda.
Decoration: Some two or three-line initials in red ink. Large multi-colored illustration of the crowned and haloed Virgin Mary seated on a cushion with the infant Jesus cradled against her, surrounded by a wreath of leaves and flowers with an unidentified coat of arms pendant from the bottom (f1r). Quarter page illunstration in red. green and yellow of two coats of arms surrounded by wreaths (f2r).
Binding: orgiinal? oak boards, rebacked in brown leather, remains of clasps on both boards. Mostly illegible inscription on front board, dated "1718 27 Aprile."

Biographical / Historical Note
The Fradaglia de Madonna Santa Maria dei Battuti of Cividale del Friuli, founded in the second half of the thirteenth century, was one of the oldest and most prominent penitential confraternities in the Republic of Venice. Its officers were drawn from the local noble families, and it continued its charitable works into the sixteenth century.

Manuscript on parchment, in a single scribal hand, containing the record of the charitable commitments and contributions of the Fradaglia de Madonna Santa Maria dei Battuti for the calendar year 1484. Contents: title page (unnumbered) register of the confraternity's obligations and donations listed by month (f1r-f12v); register of donations listed by commodity (f12v-f17v); blank (f18r-f19v).
