Title
We love our employees : second edition / Alejandro Cartagena, book concept ; Alberto Flores Varela, photographs.
Summary
At the beginning of the 20th century, one of Mexico's biggest beer companies was worried about the newly offered constitutional rights of workers to unionize. The company was worried about strikes and other labor troubles. In order to spot trouble makers, for years they secretly planted spies at workers' parties to listen to their conversations. This book contains the pictures of many of those parties. The photographs that are included in this book form part of the archive of the photographer Alberto Flores Varela. The majority were taken on commission by the Sociedad Cuauhtémoc y Famosa (SCyF), an institution established in 1918 for Cerveceria Cuauhtemoc (Cuauhtemoc Brewing Company), a company that defined the foundation of modern Monterrey, Mexico.ʺ Page [3]
