Summary
The FALCON sailed from Nantucket 9 August 1820 under the command of Shubael Brown, who was accidentally killed on the voyage (prior to the beginning of this log). B.C. Chase took over the command of the ship for the remainder of the voyage. This log records only one portion of a longer voyage dated 9 August 1820-16 August 1823. Log of the ship FALCON kept in chart format by Joseph Pinkham from 26 July-30 October 1822 (with gaps) while on a whaling voyage from Coquimbo, Chile in the South Pacific to Nantucket, Mass. Log entries record courses, distance travelled, and navigational coordinates. Included are drawings of icebergs at the back of the volume.
