The McLoughlin Bros. trade catalogue for 1867 lists the Little Slovenly Peter series as new--"Large 18mo. Toys. 6 kinds. Printed in oil, covers in oil ... per gross, $4.50." See list of toy books manufactured for Wm. H. Hill, Jr. & Co., 30 & 32 Cornhill, Boston, Mass. by McLoughlin Bros. 1867. Wrapper printed in red and ink. Illustrations produced by a relief process (zinc etching). Illustration, p. [1], signed by engraver Edward P. Cogger. "New picture books for little children. Six cent picture books."--advertisement, p. [4] of wrapper, one copy in hand. Includes ads for Mother's series, Father's series, Susie Sunshine's series, Fairy Moonbeam's series, Peter Prim's series, Little Slovenly Peter series and Dame Wonders' series. All except Dame Wonders' series is described as "new."
