"Text differs from the one-syllable redaction by Lucy Aikin (published under the pseudonym "Mary Godolphin"); however, the preface (p. 3) is very similar, suggesting that "I.F.M." (i.e., Isabella Fyvie Mayo?) rewrote Aikin's text. Copy in hand bears inscription dated 1880. Cover and plates chromolithographed. "Price $1.00 each. ... Swiss Family Robinson (in words of one syllable.) One of the best juvenile books. 112 pages. 4to. cap. Six full-page illustrations. Printed in colors."--publisher's advertisement, lower cover."
