Issue in hand bears bears a chromolithographed color picture of the three men sailing in a tub. The cover design is characteristic of McLoughlin picture books issued roughly between 1890 and 1910. In the McLoughlin Brothers' eighty-sixth annual catalogue (1914), Mother Goose's rhymes issued with a similar cover design was listed under inventory number 147. Pages numbered 65-128. In stiff-paper cover. Illustrations printed in color by a relief process (zinc etching?). Colored pictorial borders appear on each page. Illustrations variouly signed by "EGD" (i.e., Edward Gurdon Dalziel?), "HSM" (i.e., Henry S. Marks?), "Arnold sc.," and "Dalziel." Title plate design signed by "E. Nister" (i.e., lithographer Ernest Nister?)."
