Color printed pictorial cover features image of a boy and girl reading a folio size book while seated on a flowering branch. Plates printed in color by a relief process (zinc etching?). Illustrations signed "LBH" (i.e., Lizzie B. Humphrey), "Boz" (i.e, Morgan J. Sweeney), J.G Francis, "Champ" (i.e., James Wells Champney), "ML" (i.e., Mary A. Lathbury), and "Hop" (i.e, Livingston Hopkins?). Publisher's advertisements, p. [93-96]; includes illustrations by "RL" (i.e., Robert Lewis), engraver William J.
