Summary
"For "children between the ages of five and seven"--editor's preface, p. iv. Cover title varies: Blair's first, or Mother's catechism. Possibly by Sir Richard Phillips (who wrote under the pseudonym "Rev. David Blair"). New York copyright 1824 by G.C. Morgan. Includes poems "My father," and "My mother." The first line of "My father" is "Who called me first his little boy." This is neither the text found in Original poems for infant minds, by Ann and Jane Taylor (the first line of which reads, "Who took me from my mother's arms"), nor is it the Mary Elliott poem of the same name (which begins, "Thy task of duty now is o'er"). "My mother" is by Ann Taylor. Attributed by Phillips in a London, 1821 edition to "Mr. Lynch."
