This book is the novel compilation of research on some artistic manifestations of the 16th century in the Valley of Toluca. Various specialists in History, Art History and Literature have gathered to reflect on these pages about the importance of the birth of a culture in the aforementioned century. Firstly, in the book we establish a brief historiographic overview of the historical knowledge around indigenous Christian art. Subsequently, there are a couple of specialized investigations in codices located in the Valley of Toluca. In the second part of the book, some specialists address the study of music, dance and literature on the threshold of the birth of this culture. Finally, in the third part, studies of some representative pieces of indigenous Christian art have been included, such as the baptismal font of Zinacantepec, the painting of Our Lady of the Angels of Tecaxic, among others.
