Scrapbook contains 374 black-and-white photographs, approximately 70 pieces of ephemera, and correspondence dating from 1938-1951. The majority of the photographs are 10 x 14 cm or smaller; larger portraits include one of Clark in his graduation cap and gown, by the notable Black American photographer A. P. Bedou, and two group photographs from 1938 and 1939 depicting Clark and his classmates at Foster School in Evanston, Illinois. The majority of the photographs and other items in the scrapbook date from Clark's time at Xavier University of Louisiana, which he attended from 1947-1951 after serving in World War II, and depict Clark and his fellow students in both posed and candid shots. Some photographs have blue or green arrows affixed.
Ephemera includes Clark's student identification cards, report cards, ticket stubs, programs related to graduation and senior class day, and souvenirs. Correspondence includes letters from the Veterans Administration, graduation cards, and letters from Vivan Reissland Rouson. Organizations represented include the Catholic Students' Mission Crusade, Xavier's Department of Music, and the Xavier University Concert Choir. With the exception of the one photograph taken by A. P. Bedou, all other photographers are unidentified.
