A history of archives inTurkey from the establishment of the first archive organization of the Ottoman Empire, "Hazine-i Evrakın" (1846) to the first years of the General Directorate of Archives (1945). The historical documents found in the Sultanahmet Cellar and sold to Bulgaria in 1931, as well as the many problems experienced by our archives and the steps taken to solve them, are covered in detail in the work. It The Ottoman Archive, which is also an enormous treasure trove of documents, is the archive not only of Turks and Muslims, but also of around 40 independent states established in the area of the former Ottoman Empire.
