Summary
This documentary explores the Kanwar Yatra, a pilgrimage that began in a small way in the 1980s and has since exploded into an annual assembly of lakhs of mostly male pilgrims from across northern India. Taking a sociological approach, the film charts the multifaceted aspects of the pilgrimage, from the roots of its popularity, its religious significanct, the social forces at play as different communities chafe against one another, and the commercial impact of the pilgrimage on Hardiwar and surrounding cities.
