Text starts with: "... fa-qatalahumā, fa-rajiʻa ṣāḥb al-manzil, fa-wajadahumā qatlayn [qatīlayn], fa-ightamma li-dhālika ghamman shadīdan, wa-jaʻala yaqūlu hādhihi al-abyāt: Wa-mā zāla yaḥfaẓu dhimmatī wa-yaḥūṭunī // wa-yaḥfaẓu ʻirḍī wa-al-khalīlu yakhūnu. Fa-yā ʻajaban lil-khilli yahtiku ḥurmatī // wa-yā ʻajaban lil-kalbi kayfa yaṣūnu ..."
البداية مفقودة. يبدأ النص كما يلي: "... فقتلهما، فرجع صاحب المنزل، فوجدهما قتلين [قتيلين]، فاغتمّ لذلك غمًّا شديدًا، وجعل يقول هذه الأبيات: وما زال يحفظ ذمتي ويحوطني // ويحفظ عرضي والخليل يخون. فيا عجبًا للخلّ يهتك حرمتي // ويا عجبًا للكلب كيف يصون ..."
