The Politburo and the Central Military Commission decided to launch a strategic attack across the South in 1972. Tri-Thien battlefield was chosen as the strategic offensive point. After the liberation of Quang Tri, the army of the Republic of Vietnam, with the support of artillery fire and air force of the US army, tried to regain the advantage on the battlefield. Quang Tri ancient citadel became the fiercest battlefield, where an aggressive attack of the enemy for 81 days and nights ensued. Before sacrificing their lives, what did our soldiers use as motivation to overcome the seemingly insurmountable dangers and hardships? What did they think and dream about? This book is a collection of 10 documents written or read in the fire and smoke of the battlefield of those 81 days and nights, including wills and letters to mom that were unearthed decades later along with the bodies of those martyrs.
