Summary
Influential on the new wave and figures like Ryuichi Sakamoto or David Sylvian, the composer Claude Debussy imposed, at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a major work which went against the current musical canons. A clear legacy for Vanessa Wagner, classical pianist of international stature and former collaborator of Mexican electro musician Murcof. During the Variations sessions, the artist once again quenches her thirst for musical encounters, this time with Molécule. Distinguished a few years ago by his in situ recordings made during a fishing campaign in the North Sea, the beatmaker delivers a highly effective climatic introduction. Posed and inspired, the duo then stays the course, without interruption. Never intrusive, Molécule thus illustrates, in successive waves, Vanessa Wagner's dreamlike phrasing. The latter responds with inspiration to the digital themes of the vagabond laboratory technician. Singular but harmonious, this dialogue is articulated over thirty precious minutes. It thus meets the challenge of presenting the creator of Prélude à l'Après-Midi d'un Faune and La Mer in a new light. Recommended. Vincent Caffiaux.
