"Rarely has so much beautiful singing been collected together in one CD. This remarkable set of recordings was produced by The Italian branch of the Societa Italiana di Fonotipia following the successful staging of Don Pasquale at La Scala in 1904 with a stellar cast. It can be said to mark the very beginnings of the bel canto revival which was to gain gradual momentum over the next sixty years."
