Summary
The addition of diaries for the years 1943-1945 completes the series of 437 wartime diaries from the Mass Observation Archive, kept by members of its volunteer National Panel during the war period and up to December 1945. Kept usually on a daily basis, the diaries describe everyday life in Britain during the period 1939-1945. They offer an insight into the outbreak of World War Two, the Blitz and rationing from the perspectives of ordinary people. Among the diaries are those of long-term panellists Nella Last and Naomi Mitchison.
