Starring Anneika Rose as Juliet, and David Dawson as Romeo. Setting this production in mid-Twentieth Century Italy, Neil Bartlett deliberately made no visual distinction between the Capulets and Montagues in this production so that the similarity between the Houses emphasised the futility of their feud. In another innovative move, Juliet spoke her most famous lines from her bed in this production, not a balcony. The production climaxes with the back wall splitting open to reveal the crypt and the tomb sliding downstage, surrounded by a railing which Romeo cut through to be with Juliet.
