Estruturado, do começo ao fim, por uma busca obsessiva do outro. Escrito, nas palavras da autora, "sob o signo da paixão". É o que mostra Mariana Cobuci Schmidt Bastos, com paciência e perspicácia, em Sob o signo da paixão: a poética de Ana Cristina Cesar, dissertação de mestrado defendida em 2018 na Universidade de São Paulo. Um estudo extraordinário, escrito com vivacidade e leveza, sem a rigidez às vezes excessiva do discurso acadêmico. Para acompanhar essa trajetória singular, a pesquisadora realiza um exercício de aproximação que se desdobra em três frentes. De início, num impecável travelling, ela reflete sobre a presença deslocada de Ana Cristina na cena poética dos anos 1970, seus pontos de contato e, sobretudo, suas diferenças em relação à chamada "poesia marginal". Em seguida, o livro discute os aspectos materiais e gráficos de sua produção literária, mostrando que eles também destoavam da visualidade predominante nos livros daquela geração. Por fim, Mariana Cobuci analisa detidamente as quatro obras que compõem A teus pés, de olho nas particularidades e também na unidade do conjunto. A conjugação dessas distintas estratégias resulta num ensaio original e elucidativo a respeito da poesia de Ana Cristina Cesar, marcada desde sempre pela "consciência da escrita", no dizer de Flora Süssekind. Escrita escrachada, desvairada, antiliterária e, ao mesmo tempo, estetizante, reflexiva, crítica. Combinando um notável trabalho de pesquisa com a análise percuciente dos textos, a autora deste livro esquadrinha o processo de criação da poesia de Ana Cristina, essa poeta "à margem da margem", atentando a todos os aspectos de sua construção rigorosa e afetiva. Aqui e ali, revela-se também o processo de construção do próprio ensaio: as inquietações, as dúvidas, os sobressaltos, as emoções sentidas pela pesquisadora. Este estudo, como se verá, foi também movido por uma paixão ativa e lúcida.
