Summary
"'Shōten' is a weekly report on overseas political trends submitted by the Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office (currently the Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office) of the Cabinet Secretariat from March 1963 to March 1972. At that time, the subject of analysis, which was only allowed to be viewed by senior government officials, was focused not only on the East-West confrontation but also on the interrelationships between socialist countries. Specific articles include official statements from Chinese and Soviet leaders, changes in the battlefield during the Vietnam War, policies toward socialist countries in the United States and the United Kingdom, the status of the Asia-Africa Conference, and economic statistics released by socialist countries."-- Publisher.
