Indigenous Histories and Cultures in North America was originally published in 2013, as American Indian Histories and Cultures. The title was changed in 2024.
Includes watercolour of Conrad Weiser and one of his wife. Weiser was a prominent colonial Pennsylvania Indian agent and interpreter. In 1748, on the English colonies first official overture to the Indians west of the Alleghany Mountains, Weiser journeyed with George Croghan and Andrew Montour on behalf of Pennsylvania to Logstown on the Alleghany River. There the men met and formed an alliance with the various western tribes that was intended to counteract French influence in the Ohio region.
